For a second consecutive year, the club has just realised another successful ‘Have-A-Go Day’. An initiative strongly supported by Tennis Victoria, it’s an evening filled with kid’s coaching, adult’s Cardio Tennis, free courts to have a hit, and an open invitation to everyone in the community to come and ‘have a go’ at Tennis!
Close to 50 children joined our club coach on the court for an hour of coaching, followed by a similar number of adults who had a hit on our cushioned hard-courts, and an energetic run around on our brand new synthetic Tiger-Turf courts in the form of ‘Cardio Tennis‘.
The free BBQ, bouncy castle, and raffle full of fun prizes made for an enjoyable evening for all upcoming and current fans of our sport!
A huge thanks to those who helped make our event a success – our major sponsors – Brady Tiling, and Woolworths Hadfield.
Raffle prize sponsors – Rebel Sport, Katik Kebabs, Mug House, Timezone, Supercheap Auto, Bunnings, and Dan Murphy’s.
Hadfield Tennis Club coach Gim Kurti of Hotshots Tennis Academy fame, leaves this week to Florida USA, where he will represent the Australian age group team in the ITF World Championships. This is a team tournament that Gim has been selected for (we wont tell you what age bracket!) based on his skill level and performance.
If you want to read up on the championships the website can be found : https://www.itfmia.com/
We will get some updates as we week goes on!
Juniors coaching continues as normal with Justin taking charge.
The Photos below are from 2017. Where Gim went to South Africa!
After some awesome efforts behind the scenes, the Hadfield Tennis Club Committee is pleased to announce that a contract has been signed to replace the surface on Courts 1 and 2. A date has not yet been set for the courts to be laid, but is tentatively set for early December, before the peak season and after the end of the current NSNTA season. The courts will be laid by Tigerturf and will be blue in colour to match our existing hard courts.
What this means is we need to prepare the surface for re-carpeting. This will be need to be done by the Club and its members. There is a working bee scheduled for the 17th and 18th of November. All members are urged to come down and help out. We will put on a BBQ for those helping and ensure there are drinks on hand. There will be a Bobcat in operation to help with the heavy lifting, but many hands make light work.
If you have any interest in some of the second hand turf. Please contact Basil Hedges. This will need to be taken offsite during the weekend of 17/18 November. If you have any questions, or would like to offer some services, please let us know ahead of time by accepting this invite or contacting one of the committee.
